Jan 13, Kathmandu- Saroj Kumar Yadav, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, is taking the oath of office and secrecy today.
Yadav, who was appointed as the Chief Minister on Wednesday, is scheduled to take oath today at 12 noon at the office of the provincial chief at Madhesh Bhawan. Yadav, the leader of the parliamentary party of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, was appointed as the chief minister with the support of 63 MPs from seven parties and two independents out of 10 parties in the state assembly. There are 10 ministries in Madhes province. In the province, JSP and Janamat have agreed to lead each other.
In Madhesh Province, JSP, which is ranked third with 16 provincial assembly members, has the support of 23 of CPN-UML, 13 of Janmat Party, 7 of Maoist Center, 1(1) of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and Nepal Federal Samajwadi Party and a total of 63 provincial assembly members including independent provincial assembly members.
Although there are 9 MPs from the Maoist center, the oath of two of them has been stopped. Apart from LSP, Nepali Congress and Nagarik Unmukti Party, which has one MP, did not support the government. There are 107 MPs in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly.
