It Will Be Very Difficult For Ukraine To Dislodge Russia From Subordinate Territories: Top US Military Official

Jan 22, Kathmandu- General Mark Milley, the top US military officer, has said that it will be very difficult to remove Russia, which is occupying Ukraine's territory.

Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said this at a meeting of the Defense Contact Group at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday.

"President Biden, President Zelensky, and most of the leaders of Europe have said that this war will end in an agreement", said Milley. From a military point of view, this is a very difficult battle", he added.

Since last February, the United States alone has given Ukraine $110 billion in economic and military aid. He has provided Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles, anti-air systems, and more than 1 million rounds of artillery ammunition.

"This year, it is very difficult to completely remove Russia from occupying the territory of Ukraine", said Milley. He talked about the four regions of Ukraine that were annexed to Russia last September and Crimea which was annexed to Russia in 2014.

"It is not impossible to completely remove the Russians, but it is a very difficult task," he added.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has taken the goal of recapturing all four lost regions and Crimea. He has said that he will continue to provide financial support to US President Joe Biden and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin until the end.
