Nepal United Won The Expert Cup Football Title

Jan 22, Kathmandu- Nepal United has won the title of Expert Cup football in Sydney, Australia.

Canberra's Nepal United won the title by defeating Sydney's Machhapuchhre Football Club by 4-0 in the final held by Tamang Recreational Club on Sunday.

Along with the title, Nepal United won three thousand dollars in cash and a trophy and medal.

Nepal United, which came with some players from the Nepali national team, played a one-sided game in the rain-affected final and won easily over rival Machhapuchhre.

Captain Bibek Gurung scored 2 goals and Bimal Rana and Rupak Lama scored 1 each in United's victory.

Heman Thapa Magar, a national player who recently came from Nepal, won the title of the best player in the competition.

Similarly, Anish Mainali of Nepal United was the best goalkeeper.

Nepal United's captain Bibek Gurung also won the title of the highest scorer. He scored 8 goals throughout the tournament.

When Machhapuchhre defeated Hasbi North Football Club in the semi-finals, Nepal United defeated The Rising Gurkhas in a tiebreaker and made their way to the finals.

Giving prizes to the winning players of the competition, Sanjiv Sharma, head of the main sponsor, Expert Education, said that football is important for recognition along with competition, as it works to create discipline and health.

Sharma also told that Expert has a long cooperation with Tamang Recreation in terms of mutual brotherhood and social cooperation.

He said that if the national players who came from Nepal tried to participate in professional football here, it would be an important sign for all of them.

Uday Kumar Shrestha, vice president of Nepal Badminton Association and senior coach, awarded the title to the second team.

The winning players of the competition were distributed medals and certificates by Milan Thapa, ANFA coach, tournament coordinator Bijay Lama, club president Anil Tamang, and others.

The competition was played for 10 to 20 minutes until the semi-finals and the final for 30 minutes.
