Woman Death Who Went To Save A Man From Self-Immolation

Jan 30, Kathmandu: A woman who went to save a man who attempted self-immolation in Pokhara was burned to death.

Sangita Sapkota (40 -years old) was burned and injured while attempting to save 43-year-old Krishna Bahadur Chhetri who attempted self-immolation at 13 Kahunkhola in Pokhara Metropolitan City. Sapkota was taken to Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences for treatment after being seriously injured.

She died during treatment on Sunday night. Her body had been burned 80%. Chhetri ran a stationery store out of Sapkota’s house. On Sunday, he attempted suicide by sprinkling gasoline on himself. Chhetri’s body has been burned by 25%. The reason behind his attempt to die by suicide is not yet disclosed, said police.
