Feb 5, Kathmandu: South Indian singer Vani Jayaram, recently honored with India's prestigious award Padma Bhushan, passed away at the age of 77.

Her head was injured for a long time, due to which she kept falling ill. She was found dead at her home in Chennai on Saturday morning. The cause of his death is yet to be revealed.

Vani Jayaram was a famous South Indian playback singer. Born in 1945 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Vani has sung more than 10,000 songs in 19 languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and Urdu.
