ISU Elections: Congress-Affiliated New Union Clean Sweep In Baitadi

Mar 23, Kathmandu:  Nepal Student Union(NSU) has made a clean sweep in Baitadi in the Independent Students' Union (ISU) elections held on Wednesday under the Far-Western Regional University (FWRU). In all three campuses here, the Congress-affiliated New Union has won a clean sweep.

Presidential candidate from NSU Bhagarathi Bhatt has won in Patan Multipurpose Campus. While Bhatt got 89 votes, his rival Niranjan Pant of Aneraswaviyu got only 74 votes. Similarly, independent candidate Amarraj Bhatt got 50 votes.

Bhojraj Awasthi of the Integrated Independent Students Union was elected as a secretary with 86 votes, while his closest competitor, Ramdutt Bhattarai of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) Krantikari, got 63 votes. Dilendrasingh Thagunna of Aneraswaviyu has won the treasurer post with 83 votes while his nearest competitor Akhil Krantikari's Bhuvaneshwari Kathayat got 74 votes.

Among the members, Roshan Pandey of Aneraswaviyu got 101 votes, Deepaksinh Air 96 votes and Chandrawati Bhatt got 87 votes. Similarly, Meena Bhatt of NSU got 95 votes, Kalpana BK 88 votes and Babina Joshi got 93 votes. At the Jagannath Multipurpose Campus located at the headquarters, the panel of the NSU has won.

Dhani Bhatt of NSU  won the chairmanship by getting 120 votes. His opponent Yogesh Mouni of Aneraswabiya got only 36 votes. Kishoreraj Pant (118) of NSU  won as secretary, Mamta Bhatt (110) as treasurer, and Gita Bohra, Lalita Chand, and Bindu Kumari Badu of NSU also won as members.

Similarly, in Manilek Campus Melauli, the panel of the NSU has won the presidency of ISU. The party of the NSU won by defeating the alliance between ANNFSU and Akhil Revolutionaries. Navraj Bhatt of NSU won the chairmanship by getting 70 votes.

His rival, Dhanidutta Bhatt, the common candidate of the alliance between ANNFSU and Akhil Krantikari got only 44 votes. Niraj Bhatt of the NSU succeeded as Secretary. Sushila Negi of the NSU also won the treasurer post. Pooja Chand, Dinesh Singh Saud, Sunita Bhatt, and Manoj Dutt Ojha of the NSU won as members. NSU president Kapil KC has said that this is a historic victory for the NSU in the district.
