Nepal's Literacy Rate Increased By 10 Percent

Mar 24, Kathmandu- The literacy rate of Nepal has increased by 10.4 percent in 10 years.

According to the National Census 2078 released by the Central Statistics Department on Friday, the literacy rate of Nepal has reached 76.3 percent.

In the last 10 years, the literacy rate of men has reached 83.6 percent and that of women has reached 69.4 percent, according to the Department of Statistics. According to the 2068 census, the total literacy rate was 65.9 percent. In which the male literacy rate was 75.1 percent and the female literacy rate was 57.4 percent. Deputy Head of Statistics Dr. Hemraj Regmi said that according to the 2078 census, the literacy rate of women in Nepal is 14.2 percent than that of men.

He said, "The literacy rate of Nepal has reached 76.3 percent".

The literacy rate of women is 14.2 percent lower than that of men. The literacy rate of males is 83.6 percent and that of females is 69.4 percent. According to the 2068 census, the total literacy rate was 65.9 percent. The literacy rate of men was 75.1 percent and that of women was 57.4 percent.

According to Regmi, more than 21 lakh 90 thousand Nepalis are living abroad in Nepal.

He said that 21 lahks 90 thousand 592 people from 15 lahks 55 thousand 961 families are living abroad.

This number is 269 thousand 98 more than the national census of 2068. In the 2068 census, 19 lahks 21 thousand 494 people were found to be absent from the family and living abroad.

According to the report, 17 lahks 99 thousand 675 men (82.2 percent) and 390 thousand 917 (17.8 percent) women are abroad in Census 2078.

Regmi said the census does not count people who have left the country permanently.

Likewise, all family members who are abroad are not counted. Regmi said that according to the age group, the age group of 15 to 19 years has the highest percentage of the total population.

In the 2068 census, they were in the age group between 10 and 14 years.
