Commerce Campus ISU Election Postponed

Mar 25, Kathmandu- Elections of Independent Student Union (ISU) at Nepal Commerce Campus under Tribhuvan University have been postponed. The election, which was postponed last time, was scheduled for Saturday. But it didn't happen on Saturday either.

The Commerce Campus administration said that the election had to be postponed due to an uncomfortable situation. On the other hand, Aneraswaviyu, which is close to the UML, has accused the student organizations of the ruling alliance party of rigging the election.

Although voting was said to be held from eight o'clock in the morning, the election officer disappeared. After that, the campus administration issued a notification and fixed the voting for 11:30 am.

But the election scheduled for today was postponed as voting could not take place even till 11:30. ANNISU has said that the student organizations of the ruling coalition party are involved in making the election officer uncontactable.

The incident of tearing up the ballot papers of the ISU election by the leaders and workers of the Nepal Student Union, a shadow organization of the ruling party, who were shocked by the students' support for the ANNISU, against the democratic values, has brought shame to democracy. It has been confirmed that the rulers are trying to prevent the Swabiyu elections, which are to be held after 14 years, due to lack of sufficient support from the agencies that are supposed to provide security for the elections, the statement said.
