Tuberculosis Infection Outbreak Eight Children In Chitwan

Mar 26, Kathmandu: Tuberculosis has been observed in eight children in the district. By the end of February of the current financial year, 592 people were diagnosed with tuberculosis, eight of them were children.

According to Health Office Chitwan, Tuberculosis Officer Jairam Duwadi among the infected children, there are three in Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality, two in Ratnanagar Municipality, one each in Rapti and Madi Municipalities, and one in Ichchakamana Rural Municipality. He said that tuberculosis is seen in children under fourteen years of age.
 
Duwadi informed that tuberculosis is seen in more number of glands, stomachs, and intestines in children. All infected children are taking regular medication. He says that children can get tuberculosis infection by breathing and eating gum. Duwadi said, "If tuberculosis is contagious to parents, it is also contagious to children."


Children are infected with tuberculosis even while going to school and playing. In the last fiscal year, there were 1,196 cases of tuberculosis in the district. 31 of them were children. In the fiscal year 2021/22, 18 children were infected out of 893.

Dawadi said that symptoms such as persistent cough for two weeks or more, mild fever and sweating in the evening, reluctance to eat, chest pain, weight loss, blood in the stool, etc., may be tuberculosis. If you get this disease, you have to take medicine regularly for six months. He says that tuberculosis can be cured if you take regular medicines under the supervision of health workers and check your appetite from time to time.
