Suspicious death of woman, husband in police custody

Mar 27, Kathmandu- A woman was found dead inside her own house at Kirat Chowk, Pathari Sanishchare Municipality-3, Morang on Monday.

41-year-old Sharda Sundas was found dead around 11:40 am under suspicious circumstances. 68-year-old Bal Bahadur Sundas, Sharda's husband, has been taken into custody by the police as the incident is suspicious.

A team led by DSP Laxmi Bhandari of the area police office Pathri took Bal Bahadur into custody and proceeded with the investigation of the incident.

Bal Bahadur was taken into custody by the police when he was under the influence of alcohol. According to Morang police spokesperson DSP Ranjan Kumar Dahal, Sharda's body was found lying on the bed inside the house.

"The dead body was found on the bed with black marks on the face and bleeding from the nose," Dahal said, "The husband has been arrested on suspicion of murder and the investigation of the incident has been started."

He said that the husband of the deceased was taken into custody as the incident was considered suspicious after looking at the nature of the incident. According to DSP Dahal, the body has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for post-mortem.

The initial investigation could not reveal the cause of the woman's death. It is suspected that there may have been a murder," he said. "The reality will be known after receiving the post-mortem report and further investigation. However, the incident is very suspicious.

According to the police, Sharda is Bal Bahadur's younger wife. Police said they have no children.
