Mar 30, Kathmandu: President's economic advisor Dr. Chiranjeevi Nepal has been appointed. Former Governor of National Bank Dr. President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed economic adviser to Nepal.
According to a member of the President's Secretariat, Nepal already received the appointment letter on Wednesday. Labor economist Dr. Nepal led Rashtra Bank as the sixteenth governor from March 22, 2015, to March 18, 2020 AD. The capital increase and bank merger policy taken by him after becoming the governor of the National Bank is considered a 'big decision' in the banking history of Nepal.
Due to this policy, one-third of the banks and financial institutions have ceased to exist. The wave of mergers has not stopped yet. Likewise, he has made a great contribution to the management of troubled organizations and the enhancement of financial access. He also established the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system.
Before that, Dr.Nepal was the executive chairman of the Nepal Securities Board from August 28, 20007 AD, to November 26, 20008. He graduated in Labor Economics from Banaras Hindu University in 1994. He has worked as a visiting professor at Kathmandu University for 6 years.
Dr. Nepal has 22 years of teaching experience at Tribhuvan University. He also became the economic advisor to the then Prime Minister Shusheel Koirala. Due to his family background, he is the founder president of Nepal Palpa Navy Sangh (2036 year) associated with Congress since childhood. Nepal has also written a book on BP thought and economy.
Due to the closeness with the Congress, Dr. Nepal was made an economic advisor and governor by the then Prime Minister Koirala. The then Finance Minister Dr. Nepal is a staunch supporter of the open market economy introduced by Ram Sharan Mahat.
Dr. Nepal has also worked as an advisor and consultant in all three umbrella organizations of the private sector, the Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, and the Confederation of Nepal Industry. Similarly, President Paudel has appointed Baburam Kunwar, former Attorney General and former provincial chief of Gandaki, as legal advisor.
