Wide Sunkoshi Lifting Water Supply Scheme Been Launched

Apr 03, Kathmandu- The Sunkoshi lifting drinking water scheme targeting three rural villages of Rautamai, Tapli, and Limchungbung in the northern and mid-hill areas has started. Along with this, it is expected that the compulsion to migrate due to the drinking water problem that the people of this region have been experiencing for a long time will be removed.

According to the Chairman of Limchungbung Rural Municipality Major Kumar Rai and the Chairman of Tapli Rural Municipality Dhung Raj BK, the big plan to bring water from Sunkoshi by lifting has been started after a great effort.

Under the Ministry of Water Supply, Government of Nepal, Federal Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project Office, under the financial management of Biratnagar, the project has started at a cost of Rs 1.58 billion, 16,550.

In the second phase, water will be collected in three large tanks, and in the third phase, water will be connected and distributed. Nearly 3,000 households in Limchungbung Rural Municipality, 2,000 households in Rautamai, and 3,500 households in Tapli will benefit from the plan.

In the year 2051, it was said that Sunkoshi water would be lifted and distributed to bring drinking water to this area, but so far it has not been realized.

The chairman of the municipality said that one percent of the amount to be borne by the local consumers for the construction of the project has been collected through the rural municipality.
