Radio Nepal Celebrated 73 Years of Establishment While Celebrating Its Anniversary Today With Various Programs

Apr 3, Kathmandu: Radio Nepal has reached 73 years of establishment. Radio Nepal was established on April 3, 1951.

Radio in Nepal started with Democracy Radio. Nepali Congress workers in Bhojpur started radio broadcasting in 1950 with the aim of raising public awareness against the then-Rana regime. Later, the equipment of the same radio was taken to Biratnagar and Prajantra Radio was operated from there.

After 104 years of Rana's rule in Nepal, Radio Nepal started broadcasting. Radio Nepal was the only radio station in Nepal for 45 years. After the restoration of the multi-party system in the country, the radio sector also entered the private sector. At present, the number of radios in Nepal has reached about 600. Radio Nepal is a fully government-owned broadcasting organization. Technically, Radio Nepal is the biggest radio in Nepal.

In terms of physical infrastructure, there is no other radio station equal to Radio Nepal. However, there is government interference in this organization. Its chief executive and the board of directors are appointed by the government   After the restoration of democracy in the country, all the governments that came to power in Radio Nepal sent their party's supporters and journalists and conducted the current affairs program named Ghatana ra Bichar.

In the past, song recording in Nepal could not be done except on Radio Nepal. To become a singer, one had to pass the vocal test from Radio Nepal. But today there is no such situation. Song recording facilities have been made available in many places in Nepal. But Radio Nepal has fallen behind in the work it has done in the past.

It will also be successful if the old songs recorded on radio Nepal in the past as well as the speeches given by important people at different times can be safely kept. Radio Nepal should speak the sentiments of the people. It should be given priority to people's problems over ministers' speeches. Radio Nepal should give priority to the Voice of fewer People. Which can make Radio Nepal people's favorite radio.blog

Similarly,  Inaugurating a ceremony organized at Radio Nepal’s central office in Singh Durbar Kathmandu today, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma emphasized that the media should inform the public and broadcast people-oriented programs.

Minister Sharma also urged the media to be a bridge between the government and the people.
