Apr 5, Kathmandu:  Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of Rashtriya Swatantra Party, who ran for the by-election in Chitwan Region -2 has been confirmed.

According to the Office of the Election Officer, Bharatpur Chitwan, his candidacy has been confirmed. Four complaints were registered against Lamichhane at the Chief Election Officer's office on March 21, demanding that Lamichhane's candidature be canceled.

Candidates and candidates' representatives registered three complaints and Yuvraj Paudel (successful) from Kathmandu registered one complaint through email. Dammar Puri, representative of Rashtriya Janamorcha candidate Janakraj Sharma, independent candidate Santosh Thapa and representative of independent candidate Ambika Bhatt Shivhari Subedi reached the election officer's office and filed a complaint.

Since Lamichhane registered his candidacy in Chitwan-2 less than 3 months after he gave up his American residence card, there was a complaint and objection to his claim demanding cancellation of his candidacy.
