Chitwan-2: Central Leader Reaching Every Citizen Home To Exhort Vote

Apr 16, Kathmandu: The by-election of Chitwan Region No. 2 has become complicated for the major parties. Central attention is drawn here. Central leaders have gone to tolls asking for votes.

The attention of the central leaders of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, and Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASP) has been focused on the by-elections. As the election date approaches, the party has assigned central leaders to different ward levels of the district.

Congress and UML have deployed central leaders at the ward level targeting by-elections to secure their votes. The top leaders, including the deputy chairman, have concentrated on securing the votes obtained by RSP  on November 20. Nepali Congress secretary  Chitwan Dhruv Pokhrel said that in this area, is becoming complicated for the parties.

The Congress has appointed representatives including eight central members to the district. According to him, central members, former central members and former ministers, state MPs, and former district chairpersons have been assigned as representatives.

According to him, Congress General Minister Bishwaprakash Sharma has come back to Chitwan twice, targeting the by-elections. If he is scheduled to come again, today another Chief Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa is coming to Chitwan. Joint Chief Minister Badri Pandey has returned after participating in the program. Joint Chief Minister Jeevan Pariyar is coming.

Central members Madhu Acharya, Dila Sangraula, Nainsingh Mahar, Sarita Prasai, Dilman Pakhrin, Ramhari Khatiwada, Chinkaji Shrestha, and Avdul Satar are posted here. According to district president Rajeshwar Khanal, central leaders are also involved in organizing those who came from outside districts.

The central leader himself has gone to the toll booths and is busy asking for votes. Chairman Khanal said that the other constituents of the democratic-left alliance, CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist), and district leaders are also involved in the election campaign.

UML politburo member Gokul Baskota has been posted in the district for more than a month. He came to lead the district of "Mission Grass Root" and reached toll-toll in the election campaign. According to UML leader Krishnabhakta Pokhrel, the party's vice president Surendra Pandey, secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, politburo member Shanta Chaudhary, standing committee member Sher Bahadur Tamang, and other leaders are stationed here.

He said that Secretary Gokarn Bisht is coming and party president KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to come to Chitwan on  April 19. Other leaders are also going to come here for the election campaign. Central leaders including DP Aryal, the deputy chairman of the RSP and the leader of the parliamentary party, are engaged in the election campaign here.

According to Chairman Ravi Lamichhane's private secretary Prakash Sigdel, party leader and MP Birajbhakta Shrestha, Shiva Nepali, Sobita Gautam, Hari Dhakal, Deepak Bohora, Dhruv Giri, Vasumaya Tamang, Ganesh Parajuli, Hari Bhatta and other leaders have joined the election campaign here. According to Private Secretary Sigdel, other leaders are also coming.

The election program was held in the presence of RPP central president Rajendra Lingdel, vice president Bikram Pandey, and other central leaders. The central leader of that party is also in the election campaign. In the by-election, there are 124,695 voters in Chitwan-2. They will vote from 138 centers in 43 places.

After the Supreme Court revoked the citizenship of Ravi Lamichhane, the chairman of the National Independent Party, who was elected in the House of Representatives election held on November 4, the position of the House of Representatives member was vacant in this constituency.

The election for the vacant post is going to be held on  April 23. There are 22 candidates including Jeet Narayan Shrestha of Congress, Ram Prasad Neupane of UML, and Chairman of RSVP Ravi Lamichhane on behalf of the Democratic-Left Alliance.
