Digital Wallets And QR Codes Of Nepal And India Will Work In Each Other's Countries

Jun 2, Kathmandu- An international digital payment agreement has been signed between Nepal and India. An agreement was reached between the two countries on Thursday during the visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to India.

Along with this, now Nepali citizens can make digital payments in India and Indian citizens in Nepal through digital wallet and mobile banking by scanning QR.

Nileshman Singh Pradhan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) and Ritesh Shukla, CEO of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) on behalf of India exchanged the agreement between themselves.

It is said that after the implementation of the agreement, digital payments can be made in each other's countries through NCHL in Nepal and NPCI affiliated banks and financial institutions and payment platforms in India.

Earlier, only card payment facility was in operation between Nepal and India.

Speaking on the occasion, Nepal's Prime Minister Prachanda said that this agreement will make it easier for businessmen, students, tourists and pilgrims of both Nepal and India to make necessary cross-border payments.
