Jun 04, Kathmandu- Member of the House of Representatives, Amresh Kumar Singh, has questioned what action will be taken against the then President who did not certify the Citizenship Bill which was passed by both Houses of the Federal Parliament twice.
Citing the constitutional provisions in the House of Representatives meeting held on Monday, he questioned what kind of action would be taken against the then president who did not certify, even though there is a binding constitutional obligation to be passed by the House twice. In addition, he said that action should be taken.
The Citizenship Bill, which was passed by the National Assembly and the House of Representatives and sent for verification, was sent back with suggestions by then President Bidya Devi Bhandari. After this, while discussing the bill again, the Citizenship Bill, which was passed by both houses, the National Assembly and the House of Representatives, and sent for verification, was put on hold by the then President Bhandari without verification. MP Singh said that the action was against the law and that he should be punished.
