Jun 20, Kathmandu- The Afghan police have destroyed about 80 acres of opium planted in the northern Jowzjan province of Afghanistan in the last two months.
"In the last two months, in a series of operations, we have destroyed 80 acres of opium and hashish, including a six-acre hashish farm, in seven districts of Jowzjan Province," said Mohammad Yunus, SA's provincial director.
In a similar operation against illegal crops, the police destroyed about 600 acres of crops in three provinces a few weeks ago.
Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the Afghan caretaker administration, issued an order in April last year banning the cultivation, processing, and transportation of illegal crops.
