Lumpy Skin Pandemic Kills 52 Animals

Sep 07, Kathmandu- Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Dr. Beduram Bhusal has informed that 15 lakh 19 thousand 779 animals have been infected with lumpy skin disease so far.

Answering the questions asked by the MPs in the House of Representatives, Minister Bhusal also asserted that the government is doing its best for the treatment.

Minister Bhusal informed that 13 lakh 83 thousand 595 animals have recovered after treatment and 73 thousand 636 animals are now in sick condition.

According to the ministry, 52,548 animals have died so far due to the infection of the disease.

Minister Bhusal said that the government's policy is to mechanize for the development of the agricultural sector. He said that this policy has been implemented in all 77 districts under the Prime Minister's Agriculture Modernization Project.

He said, "In addition to soil testing, disease, insect testing, disease diagnosis, technical training has been given to farmers, agricultural farms, farmer groups, and cooperatives."

Answering a question raised by MP Dilendra Prasad Badu, he said that a study is being conducted on the issue of producing chemical fertilizers in the country.

MP Prem Suwal questioned why agricultural mechanization has not happened in Nepal.
