Sep 18, Kathmandu- The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal has decided to recommend the film 'Halkara' directed by Vikram Sapkota for the 96th edition of the Oscar Awards to be held in America next year.
The committee's meeting held on Monday recommended "Halkara" from among the films received.
The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal asked the filmmakers who are interested in joining the Oscar competition to submit their films by 29th Ashwin 2080. According to the same notification, films Dakini, Halkara, Neerphool, Bulaki, and Bagan from Nepal had applied for participation.
According to the statement, the committee has decided to recommend Halkara among the films received, taking into account the technical aspects, the presentation of the story, the emotional analysis of the characters, and the artistry of the presentation.
The Oscar Awards will be held on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. In Nepal, there is a five-member International Feature Film Selection Committee under the chairmanship of Raju K.C. Manju Kumar Shrestha, Gautam Dhimal, Samipyaraj Timalsena, Ritika Bhattarai are members of the committee.
'Halkara' has Mahesh Tripathi and Binita Thapa Magar in the lead roles.
