Public Debt Of Nepal Reached 2 Trillion 3 Billion

Sep 28, Kathmandu- The public debt of Nepal has increased. According to the data released by the Public Debt Management Office, the public debt to be paid by the government by the end of Bhadra of the current financial year has reached 2,300,098,696,000 rupees.

Out of that debt, 1,140,530,300,000 rupees is internal debt, while 1,169,339,300,000 rupees is external debt.

According to the Public Debt Management Office, the government has added 49,233,200,000 rupees in debt within 2 months of the current financial year.

By the end of last Ashadha, the total debt was 22,993,525,000 rupees. During these two months, the government has also paid 38,716,100,000 rupees.

However, the total debt exceeded 23 billion after the addition of new loans more than the loan repayments. The gross domestic product (GDP) of Nepal is around 5 trillion rupees.

On this basis, Nepal's debt comes to 43.58 percent of GDP. On the other hand, if we look at the total population of Nepal of 29,164,578, then it seems that one Nepali has a debt of 79,201 rupees.
