Parliamentary Committee Directive To Address Demands Of Doctors

Sep 29, Kathmandu- The parliamentary committee has instructed the government to address the demands of the protesting doctors through negotiations. On Friday, the meeting of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee instructed the Ministry of Health to prepare an environment in which health services can be delivered in a dignified, safe, and fearless manner.

Announcing the decision of the meeting, the chairman of the committee, Bhanubhakta Joshi, said that the committee has drawn serious attention to this kind of abuse of doctors.

He said that Dr. Toshima Karki, a member of the committee, has been given the responsibility of informing the protesting doctors about the initiatives taken by the committee to address the problems of the doctors.

In the meeting, the representatives of the concerned associations expressed their opinion about the abuse and unexpected incidents against the doctors. The committee has drawn serious attention to this type of abuse incident on doctors. Expressing sorrow and regret for such incidents, it has been decided to instruct the Ministry of Health to take action against the culprits as per the rules and to prepare an environment in which the health services can be delivered in a dignified, safe, fearless, and non-violent manner," said President Joshi.

In the parliamentary committee, the MPs said that the security threat to the doctors has increased and anyone involved in the incident should be brought to justice.
