Child death case: Violent protests in Birendranagar (photos)

Sep 30, Kathmandu- The protest that started after an 8-year-old boy was found dead in Surkhet has become violent. 8-year-old Salam Pulami Magar was found dead in the hostel of Usha Bal Batika Secondary School, which is located near Birendranagar Municipality-6 Ghantaghar. The child's relatives have started a protest saying that the child's death is suspicious.

As the movement became violent, there is now a problem in the operation of transport facilities along with power outages in Birendranagar. The Birendranagar market is in turmoil due to the agitation. The relatives did not allow the body to be picked up saying that the incident was suspicious. Gopal Chandra Bhattarai, spokesperson of the state police office, said that the incident is suspicious and will be investigated.

The angry crowd has resorted to vandalism saying that the incident should be investigated. The police also fired tear gas to calm the crowd.
