Investigation On The Missing Ones Due To Flood Continues For Three Days

Oct 02, Kathmandu- The search is on for those who disappeared along with the jeep since Saturday night after being washed away by the floods in Tamadi river. The Tata Jeep No. G1 J 6213, which was going from Baglung to Pokhara, was swept away by the flood of the Tamadi river.

According to the mountain police, the bodies of one of the three missing persons have been found, while the search for the other two persons has not yet been found. The family members have also walked along the river bank to search for the missing person. A jeep was swept away by Tamadi Khola on Saturday evening at the border of Kushma Municipalities-7 and 8 in Parbat on the Baglung-Pokhara highway. The driver Basanta Bahadur Thapa got down from the jeep when the moving jeep hit a road and stopped. According to Thapa, the driver, the jeep was swept away by a sudden flood while removing the oats, but the driver ran to a safe place and managed to survive.

Among the three missing people in the vehicle, the body of 34-year-old Gopal Basyal, resident of Tilottama Municipality-9, was found at the Dobhan side of Modikhola at 12 midnight on Saturday. Police said that the dead Basyal's body was identified by his relatives after the post-mortem. Similarly, the search for 50-year-old Dambar Bahadur Thapa and 27-year-old Madhav Paudel alias Bijay from Tarakhola Rural Municipality 3 Baglung, who are missing, said Khumlal Bhusal, head of police office Parbat.

According to police chief Bhusal, the vehicle was found in a piecemeal state about 700 meters away at the junction of Modikhola. The driver Vasant Bahadur Thapa, who is also the owner of the vehicle, has been detained by the police for action as per the Vehicle Act.

On Monday, a joint team of police, armed forces, and the army was mobilized to search and rescue the missing persons. The investigation team, which came with trained dogs called from the police provincial office, did not find the missing person even during the search.
