President Bidyadevi Bhandari has affixed a stamp on the first-day stitch cover of the postage stamp of Satya Mohan Joshi which is known as a man of the century. At a function organized by the Philatelic and Postage Stamp Management Office at Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas today, the President affixed a stamp on Joshi's photo stamp. According to the Postage Stamp Management Office, one million units of postage stamps of Rs 10.
The cabinet meeting held on Sunday had decided to approve the publication of a postage stamp printed with the picture of Man of the Century Joshi. The cabinet meeting on April 22 approved the philatelic program of 1964 A.D and decided to issue postage stamps. Chief of Lalitpur Municipal Corporation Chiribabu Maharjan handed over five books written by Joshi and a CD titled 'Krantika Lahar' composed by Joshi to the President.
Joshi was born on May 12, 1919 A.D in Ikhumbahal, Lalitpur. Rich in art, culture, and literature, Joshi was hailed as the man of the literary century on May 4, 2017 A.D. He has received medals and awards including Madan Award, Suprabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu, Trishakti Patta, Adikavi Bhanubhakta Award, Ujjwal Kirtiman Rashtradeep. Joshi has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Kathmandu University.
In his honor, a silver coin bearing his picture has been issued by the Taksar Division of the Department of Money Management, Nepal Rashtriya Bank. Two thousand five hundred and twenty-five thousand coins, one thousand 25 thousand units, and one hundred ten thousand coins have been minted.
On the occasion, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung said that Joshi was the first social figure in the history of postage stamp publishing to be issued in his lifetime. "A new history of Joshi's life has started from today. It is a document of history," said Gurung, a spokesman for the Government of Nepal. "Once a day comes once in a lifetime, a day has come in the life of a man of the century. The state has shown respect. ”
Stating that the state understands Joshi, who knows art, culture, and literature, Minister Gurung said that he has been a witness of every day of this century. Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya, and others were present in the program.
