Dec 01, Kathmandu- Madhesh Province won the title of KP Oli National Cricket Tournament-2080 by defeating the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club by 11 runs in the final. This is the first title won by Madhesh in a domestic cricket competition.
While chasing the target of 136 runs given by Madhesh in the final held at Pokhara Stadium in Kaski on Friday, the Army lost seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and managed to score only 124 runs.
Army captain Binod Bhandari scored 32 runs. Vivek Yadav scored 25 runs, Basir Ahmed scored 22 runs while Sompal Kami and Santosh Karki scored 16 runs.
Hari Shankar Shah, the captain of Madhesh, took four wickets. Harishankar, who bowled four overs, only spent 19 runs. Pradeep Paswan took two wickets and Prathik Yadav took one wicket.
Bivek Yadav and Sahab Alam of Army took three wickets. Sompal Kami and Basir Ahmed took one wicket each.
Madhes, who came to the semi-finals from group 'C', defeated the APF Club of the Armed Police Force by 11 runs in the last 4. Army, who entered the semi-finals from Group D, defeated Wagmati Pradesh by four wickets in the semi-finals.
