After the government announced the election date on Magh 11th, the Election Commission announced the schedule of the election to publish the party registration information on Mangsir 22nd. Shaligram Sharma Poudel, Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Commission informed that the schedule of the election was approved on the 14th of Mangsir, and that the notice for party registration for the purpose of the election was published on the 22nd of Mangsir.
He said that the time for party registration is fixed from 24th to 29th Mangsir. Election symbols will be given to those parties on the 1st of Paush. According to the Election Commission, the final list of registered parties will be published on Paush 4th. Election officers will be appointed and offices will be established in the capitals of seven provinces for the election on the 16th of Paush.
Paudel, the spokesperson of the Commission, said that the election program for the members of the National Assembly will be held from the 20th to the 29th of Paush. He said that the name of the voter list will be published, objections and complaints will be received, and the final list will be published. Spokesperson Paudel said that during this period, the work of registering the nomination, claiming, protesting, receiving complaints, examining it, publishing the final list of candidates, and withdrawing them will be done during that period. According to the schedule, the election officer's office will designate the polling place in the capital of the province. Voting will be held on Magh 11th from 9 am to 3 pm.
According to the election schedule, there will be two polling stations in the polling place. There is a polling station where members of the provincial assembly vote. Electoral Commission spokesperson Paudel also said that arrangements have been made for the polling station where the mayor, deputy mayor and president, vice president of another municipality will vote. According to the latest census, the Election Commission has also changed the weighting of votes for the National Assembly elections. According to the latest census given by the National Census Office, the Commission has decided that there will be 53 votes for provincial assembly members and 19 votes for municipal mayors, deputy mayors and presidents, vice presidents, spokesperson Poudel said.
The government has announced the date of election on Magh 11 for 19 posts out of 20 National Assembly members that will be vacant on Falgun 20. There is a constitutional provision that the President nominates one vacant member of the National Assembly on the recommendation of the government.
