Poet Pokharel's 'Unsung Songs' released

Dec 02, Kathmandu- Chitwan is the birthplace of poet Durga Prasad Pokharel. He has master's degree in both English and Sanskrit. He taught English at the university for a few years, then went to the UK. Now he teaches Sanskrit language to foreigners. Pokharel's English poetry collection 'Unsung Songs' was released in Kathmandu last Thursday.

Commenting on this collection of 83 poems, poet and critic Keshav Sigdel succinctly said, "This collection includes poems of various styles written by the poet Pokharel while studying and teaching at the University and when he arrived and stayed in Britain. "It is my understanding that poems of both tastes written in the original English and translated from Nepali by the poet himself have been included in the collection", he said.

Poet Pokharel revealed in his collection about poetry saying, "My poems may not carry a global message." "But these poems are the reflections of me as a human being". He also revealed that he was encouraged to continue his poetry as the poetry that was born while away from his family was a way of eradicating loneliness and despair.
