Madhesh Province Champion Defeats Army

Dec 03, Kathmandu- Madhesh Province has won the KP Oli Cup T-20 cricket tournament title. On Friday, Madhesh defeated Tribhuvan Army Club by 11 runs at the Pokhara Cricket Ground and became the champion. This is the first time that Madhesh has won a national-level competition.

Chasing the target of 136 runs given by Madhesh, Army scored only 124 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

When Army needed 24 runs for victory in the last over, Bivek Yadav hit a four in the first ball, a six in the second, and a run in the third.

But in the next three balls, Army's Sompal Kami could score only one run off Madhesh's Rupesh Singh.

Sompal scored 16 not out in 15 balls and Vivek scored 25 not out in 14 balls.

Before that, captain Binod Bhandari scored 32 runs, Santosh Karki scored 16 runs and Bhim Sarki scored 22 runs. No other Army batter could score in double figures. Rohit Poudel got out for 5 runs, Basir Ahmed for 2 runs, Kushal Malla for 0 runs and Rajesh Pulami got out for 3 runs.

Harishankar Sah, captain of Madhesh, took 4 wickets in bowling. He spent 19 runs in 4 overs. He took three wickets in 11 overs. In that over, he dismissed Vinod Bhandari, Basir Ahmed and Kushal Malla.

Pradeep Paswan took 2 wickets while Parthik Yadav managed to take 1 wicket.

Before that, Madhesh, who won the toss and batted first, added 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

For Madhesh, Bishal Patel added 49 not out. He hit 3 fours and 3 sixes off 32 balls. Captain Harishankar scored 27 runs, Himanshu Dutt scored 14 runs and Vishal Susling scored 10 runs.

Other batsmen of Madhesh got out without scoring runs in double figures.

Army's Bivek Yadav and Shahav Alam took 3 wickets each in bowling. Sompal Kami and Basir Ahmed managed to take 1 wicket each.
