Dec 04, Kathmandu- Bharatpur Metropolis Chief Renu Dahal has said that regular sports activities will now take place at Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium. Concluding the Bagmati state-level women's cricket selection tournament, Chief Dahal mentioned that regular matches will be held at the stadium's practice ground.
He also clarified that an agreement will be reached between the association, the state and the Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality in a few days to play regularly. A phase of discussion and agreement has been reached to regularize sports activities in the stadium. For the construction of the first phase of the cricket stadium, it has been agreed that 70 percent of Bagmati Province and 30 percent of Bharatpur Metropolis will be done. It is said that the first phase will cost Rs 75 crore.
"There are no two opinions on constructing a cricket stadium," She said, "Within a few days, a letter of agreement is coming from the two universities regarding the ownership of the land." The tender work is going on to start the construction within a month.
Addressing the program, Central Secretary of Nepal Cricket Association and President of Bagmati Province, Paras Khadka mentioned that the possibility of playing international matches at Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium is increasing in the near future. President Khadka praised Mayor Renu Dahal for taking the initiative to develop the game of cricket.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu won the title of the Bagmati Province Women's Cricket Qualifying Tournament held for the Prime Minister's Cup. Kathmandu Cricket Association won the title by defeating Lalitpur by 4 wickets in the final match between Lalitpur and Kathmandu on Monday.
Lalitpur, who batted first, scored 54 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Batting in response, Kathmandu completed the target with 6 wickets in 16.1 overs.
