Final Hearing In The Case Against Alam Being Held Today

Feb 11, Kathmandu- The final hearing in the case against Nepali Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Aftab Alam will be held today in District Court Rautahat. The appearance of the case for trial has been fixed in a single bench of Judge Matrika Prasad Acharya.

Earlier, the hearing was fixed on Paush 29, but due to the lack of judges, the case was put on the adjournment list on that day.

Before that, in Alam's case, District Court Rautahat asked for a written 'argument note'. Judge Babukazi Baniyan's bench asked for a written argument note. But he has already been transferred.

The bomb brought to rig the Constituent Assembly election exploded in the shed of Alam's uncle Shesha Idris on 27th Chaitra 2064. Alam was arrested on October 26 on the charge of taking the injured and the dead from the same explosion to the brick kiln.

On 18 Kartik 2076, a case was filed against him in the Rautahat District Court on 'Industry of Killing by Using Explosive Substances and Offense of Killing on Duty'. District Court Rautahat sent him to prison for pre-trial detention after the debate on the case.

He has been in prison since 29 Kartik 2076. After the Rautahat District Court ordered him to be sent to jail for preliminary investigation, he approached the Birgunj High Court against that order. The High Court upheld the order of the district on 24th Magh 2076.

After that, he filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking that he be freed from prison and allowed to fight the case on a regular date. After the Supreme Court upheld the order of the district, he is in custody for the preliminary investigation.

Narayan Singh, father of Trilok Pratap Singh of Yamunamai Rural Municipality-4 and Roxana Khatun, mother of OC Akhtar filed a complaint with the police against Alam, his brother Mohammad Mahtab Alam, Mobin Alam, Sheikh Bhadai and Sheikh Savage. It is mentioned in their complaint that Trilok and OC were killed by being thrown into a brick kiln.

Along with Alam, Mohammad Mahtaw Alam, Sheikh Bhadai, Mohammad Movin Alam, Sheikh Seraj, Badri Sahni, Sheikh Fazlehaq, Sagir Alam, Sheikh Jamunai, Gauri Shankar Shah and others have been made defendants in the case.
