Feb 12, Kathmandu- Measles measles-rubella vaccination campaign is being started in Gulmi from the second week of February.
17 thousand 537 children who have reached 9 months and under five years of age in the district will be vaccinated. Pashupati Acharya, Public Health Officer of Health Office, Gulmi, informed that the measles rubella vaccination campaign will be conducted from 16 to 20 February in Musikot Municipality and Isma, Malika, Dhurkot and Madane Rural Municipality of Gulmi.
Similarly, vaccination campaign will be conducted in Resunga Municipality and Gulmi Darbar, Chhatrakot, Rurukshetra, Satyavati, Chandrakot and Kaligandaki from 21st to 25th February. Public Health Officer Acharya said that vaccination will be conducted from 330 regular vaccination centers in the district. Seven vaccination centers are being added based on the number of children. Acharya said that there will be a team of 337 health workers, 674 volunteers and 12 doctors monitoring the AEFI for the vaccination campaign.
Apart from that, the campaign will be monitored and inspected by the District Vaccination Coordinating Committee and the media. Last year too there was a measles epidemic in Nepal. Last year, the campaign was launched after measles infection was confirmed in 1,349 people in Nepal. Pushpa Thapa, Senior Public Health Officer of Health Office Gulmi said that the outbreak spread from Banke district to the whole country and this campaign was started to eradicate measles by 2026.
