Apr 19, Kathmandu- A resolution has been passed from the Koshi region. In the state assembly meeting held on Friday, the resolution proposed by UML chief whip Revathiraman Bhandari as proposer, state assembly member of Maoist center Ganesh Prasad Upreti and UML state assembly member Kishore Chandra Dulal as supporters was passed by voice vote.

In the resolution proposal, it is mentioned that 'on the date of Chaitra 26, by clause 2 of Article 188 of the Constitution, the Chief Minister should be instructed to take a vote of confidence from the meeting of the Provincial Assembly by proposing that he has confidence in him'. It is mentioned in the proposal that the provincial government and government-affiliated officials should be instructed not to make any decisions of long-term importance apart from regular work as the majority of parliamentarians have withdrawn their support.

After the resolution was passed, the MPs of CPN-UML demanded to divide the votes in favor of the resolution and the Speaker instructed to count the votes. 52 parliamentarians were in favor of the resolution proposal. Congress MPs did not participate in the process of counting the votes for and against the motion by the Speaker. Similarly, three members of parliament were in favor of not voting.

The UML and the Maoist Center have brought a resolution to force Chief Minister Kedar Karki to take a vote of confidence. On the other hand, Chief Minister Karki had said that he would not go beyond the provisions of the constitution saying that the resolution was against the constitution. He has been saying that even if the resolution is passed or not, he will not resign and will not take a vote of confidence.
