Two military helicopters crash: one dead, seven missing

Apr 21, Kathmandu- During training, two Japanese military helicopters have crashed. In which the body of one person has been found so far and seven others are missing, according to media reports. However, the cause of both helicopter accidents has not been revealed yet. The search for seven missing people is underway.

At night, two Japanese helicopters were practising anti-submarine warfare on Izu Island in the Pacific Ocean. A helicopter lost contact near the island of Torishima, moments later an emergency signal was received from the aircraft. 25 minutes later, contact with another aircraft in the same area was also lost. A spokesman for the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) confirmed the incident and said that one person was rescued but died.

Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara has said that some parts of the plane were found in the sea. Due to this, it is assumed that both of them met with an accident. The Maritime Self-Defense Force said no other aircraft or ships were involved in the incident as there were no other aircraft or ships in the surrounding waters.

In April last year, an army helicopter crashed on the island of Miyako in southern Okinawa. Two pilots, two mechanics and an army general and 10 others were on board the ship. They all died.

Similarly, in January 2022, a fighter plane crashed into the water in central Ishikawa. The two pilots who were sitting in it were killed. Not only this, in 2019, a stealth jet flying from northeastern Japan for training fell into the sea.

In November last year, a US military Osprey military aircraft crashed near Japan, killing all eight people on board.

Currently, Japan is paying special attention to the security of its country. The US is constantly trying to improve its relations with many countries in Asia. Recently, due to the aggressiveness of China and North Korea, Japan has increased the expenditure on its security system.
