Karnali Chief Minister Gets Vote Of Confidence

Apr 25, Kathmandu- Chief Minister of Karnali Province Yamlal Kandel has received the vote of confidence.

Kandel got 23 votes in the provincial assembly on Thursday. Today, 36 MPs were present in the 40-member provincial assembly.

Out of which 23 were in favor of the vote of confidence, 12 were against and 1 was neutral.

There are 14 MPs from the Nepali Congress, 13 from the CPN Maoist Center, and 10 from the CPN UML in the Karnali Provincial Assembly. A member of Congress has been suspended.

Likewise, there is one member of parliament from the RPP, one from the Unified Socialist Party and one from the Swatantra party.

Three MPs of the Congress did not attend today's meeting. RP is neutral. 21 votes are required for a majority in the provincial assembly.

CPN-UML leader Kandel was appointed as the chief minister of Karnali province on Chaitra 27 by the state chief Tilak Pariyar.

Kandel is the fourth Chief Minister of Karnali. Chief Minister Kandel appointed Ransingh Pariyar of the CPN-Maoist Center as a non-departmental minister only on Wednesday.

Even after 17 days of being appointed as the Chief Minister, Kandel has not yet been able to complete the Cabinet. MPs close to Kandel say that they are ready to complete the cabinet only after taking the vote of confidence.
