KMC Community Schools Becoming Technology Friendly

Apr 28, Kathmandu- Kathmandu Metropolitan City has prepared to distribute 'Smart Board' to the community schools under it to make them technology-friendly.

Saraswati Pokharel, Acting Head of Education Department of the metropolis, informed that KMC has prepared to distribute smart boards to community schools in order to make the teaching and learning process technology-friendly.

According to Chief Pokharel, the board is currently in the procurement process. He said that they are preparing to distribute it to schools within a few days. "Now it is not certain which schools will be distributed", he said. Currently, there are 89 community schools in the metropolis. The desire of the metropolis is to distribute to as many schools as possible.

'Smart board' is a means of teaching students to study using technology. "Videos can be shown as needed, reading can be done by searching Google, Powerpoint is a technology that can be used for studying if needed", he said.

It is said that along with the board, they are also preparing to distribute laptops to the teachers to facilitate their teaching. Pokharel informed that the laptop is also in the process of purchase. Similarly, Kampa has prepared to purchase furniture materials to make it easier for students to study according to the standards of the Nepal government, the metropolis has informed.

Due to the improvement of the public schools by Kampa, the attraction of students in the public schools of the metropolis has increased in the current academic session. Recently, the students have increased in the public schools of the metropolis after being able to study through subject teachers at a low fee.

According to the Department of Education, efforts are currently being made to make public schools equipped with all the resources for teaching and learning. Chief Pokharel said that KMC's focus is on creating a suitable environment for providing quality education to students.

For the improvement of the education sector, KMC has allocated an amount of Rs.1 billion, 320,933,000 to education for the current financial year.
