Teachers Resigning As Party Members!

Apr 29, Kathmandu- Teachers who are members of various political parties have started resigning one by one. The teachers who are being prosecuted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have started resigning from the membership of various political parties.

Education Minister Sumana Shrestha decided to take action against the teachers working in public schools if they are party members through a ministerial decision on the 4th of Baisakh 2081. After the ministerial decision, a circular was sent to the Education and Human Resource Development Center asking them to take action against teachers who join political parties, stay in the executive committee, and act as congress representatives.

Along with the circular from the Ministry, the Center also issued a circular to the Education Development and Coordination Unit of all 77 districts across the country. The units have also issued public notices to the public schools asking them not to join political parties, be members of the executive committee, or be congress representatives.

Such teachers have started resigning after the units issued a public notice. A teacher who is the deputy chairman of the Nepali Congress ward in Baglung has resigned. Gun Bahadur Khatri, Deputy Chairman of Galkot Municipality-3 Nepali Congress, has resigned from the post of Deputy Chairman.

He submitted his resignation by writing a letter to the Chairman of the Ward Working Committee. He is a permanent teacher of Dhawalagiri Primary School. Similarly, he was an active member of the Nepali Congress from the past and was the deputy chairman of the Nepali Congress Ward No. 3 Ward Working Committee. He has resigned from the position of Vice-Chairman and as an active member of the Nepali Congress.

Similarly, in Kapilvastu, teachers have started resigning as members of the party. More than 60 teachers working in Shivraj Municipality of Kapilvastu have informed that they are not members of any party. Dinesh Chaudhary, head of the education branch, said that more than 60 teachers had applied with the information that they were not affiliated with any party. A teacher of Banganga Municipality of Kapilvastu has left the membership of the party. Navraj Belbase has informed that he has given up the membership of the party.
