Two Arrested For Setting Fire To The Forest In Gulmi

Apr 30, Kathmandu- Two people have been arrested for setting fire in Gulmi.

Among those arrested are 38-year-old Rajkumar Panthi Kshetri and 41-year-old Raju GC of Resunga rural municipality-7. According to the Division Forest Office, Gulmi, they were arrested on the charge of setting fire to the local Sisnyara Patal community forest on 7th Baisakh. According to the office, both the accused persons have admitted that they set fire in the forest. According to Pankaj Kumar Thakur, acting forest officer of Division Forest Office, Gulmi, they were arrested on 17th Baisakh from Neta Bazar. They have been prepared to be prosecuted for the crime of setting fire through the Forest Act 2076.

Those caught will be imprisoned for three years and fined 60,000 rupees or both, said Thakur, Deputy Forest Officer, Division Forest Office, Gulmi.
