There should not be any kind of discrimination in pardoning prisoners: Home Minister Lamichhane

May 02, Kathmandu- Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has said that there should not be any discrimination in pardoning prisoners.

Inaugurating Baijnath Rural Municipality-3 Naubasta Jail in Banke today, Home Minister Lamichhane mentioned that it is a matter of their right to get amnesty for prisoners.

Home Minister Lamichhane pointed out that society is still unable to accept when prisoners return to society after serving their sentence and emphasized that the family and the society should be aware of leading a family and social life. Home Minister Lamichhane mentioned that the government is aware that excessive force should not be used in prisons, inhumane activities and criminal activities should not take place.

Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Lumbini Province Dinesh Panthi drew the attention of the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs to take steps to control the fire in the province. Minister of Social Development of Lumbini Government Ratna Khatri, Director General of Prison Management Department Kashiraj Dahal and others expressed their views on the issue of prison reform.
