Hearing On Sandeep Lamichhane's Case Begins Today

May 05, Kathmandu- The Hearing on Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane's rape case is being conducted today in the High Court Patan. Earlier, on the 16th of Baisakh, the joint bench of Justices Dhir Bahadur Chand and Chandramani Gyawali had put the case in the 'not to be heard' list.

Lamichhane approached the Patan High Court against the district court in Kathmandu after finding him guilty in the rape case. He has demanded that the High Court overturn the decision of the District. Along with Lamichhane, the government side has also reached the High Court.

The government has also filed an appeal demanding punishment for the crime of rape of a minor. A judgment or necessary order may be passed after this hearing in the case of Lamichhane.

The district court of Kathmandu sentenced Sandeep to 8 years of imprisonment on the charge of raping a young woman. The district held that the complainant was an adult. Sandeep, who reached the High Court after the verdict, was given the facility to fight the case outside the jail until the court decided the case. He is fighting the case outside the jail.
