Bagmati Province Issuing Higher Education Act 2078 Amendment Ordinance

May 05, Kathmandu- The Bagmati government has decided to issue an ordinance amending the State Higher Education Act 2078. The cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to issue an ordinance as some provisions of the State Higher Education Act need to be amended.

According to the spokesman of the state government and Minister of Internal Affairs and Law, Ganga Narayan Shrestha, this decision has been taken because it is favourable to amend Section 13 of 950 of the Act. He said that in that section, it was decided to issue an ordinance to clarify the matter of determining the tenure of the board of trustees of the state university.

According to him, when the tenure of the officials of the Protection Committee (Board of Trustees) nominated to the Guardian Committee is established for the first time, the tenure of 2 persons will be 2 years, 3 persons will be 4 years and 3 persons will be 6 years.

He said that by revising the said system, when the term of office of the officials nominated to the committee is fixed for the first time, the term of office of 5 people will be fixed for 4 years and the term of office of 3 people will be fixed for 6 years, he said. According to the Act, the term of office of the members is considered to be calculated from the date of the first meeting of the Guardian Committee.

According to the decision of the meeting, the head of the state will issue the ordinance on the recommendation of the state government, and the ordinance will be submitted to the state assembly meeting after summoning the parliament session. A replacement bill has to be brought and passed by the parliament within 60 days of the issuance of the said ordinance.

The Cabinet meeting has decided to provide relief money at the rate of Rs 1 lakh each to the 3 people who died in the fire. To the 2 families of Lalitpur and one family of Ramechhap who died during fire control through the Disaster Management Fund of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law been decided to provide one lakh rupees each.
