Congress Filed Petition In SC Over Chief Minister of Gandaki Denying To Give Vote Of Confidence

May 07, Kathmandu- The Nepali Congress has filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that the Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagraj Adhikari has not received a vote of confidence.

Even though Khagraj got only 30 votes in the 60-member Gandaki province, Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital announced that he got the vote of confidence. Supreme Court Information Officer Gobinda Ghimire said that a writ was filed in the Supreme Court on Tuesday on behalf of Surendra Pandey, the leader of the Congress Gandaki State Parliamentary Party, saying that the decision was not by the law.

The payment of the said writ is scheduled for the next 27th of Baisakh.

After Speaker Dhital's announcement, the Congress has been protesting saying it is an unconstitutional act. 31 MPs are required for a majority in the state assembly.

In the writ, an interim order has also been sought for the chief minister officer to refrain from doing any work.

Pandey also demands that the appointment of the chief ministerial officer, which is against the law, should be annulled by the sending order and he should be appointed as the chief minister as per clause 3 of article 168 of the constitution.
