May 11, Kathmandu- Provincial Ayurveda Hospital Kailali has provided treatment services to 19,629 patients in nine months of the current financial year 2080/81. According to Dr. Durga Prasad Dhungana of the Provincial Ayurveda Hospital, 11 thousand 12 women and 8 thousand 17 men are among those taking services.
Five thousand six hundred and thirty-four women and four thousand three men have taken the treatment service of Purvakarma, i.e. rheumatism and various diseases related to nerves. Three thousand five hundred thirty-eight female and two thousand thirty-nine male patients underwent laboratory tests from the hospital. The number of women receiving treatment for rectal diseases is 11 and men are 14.
In the financial year 2079/80, 29,747 patients received treatment services. Dr. Ramakameshwar Thakur, Medical Superintendent of the Regional Ayurveda Hospital and Pediatrician, informed that the Ayurveda Hospital is currently providing homoeopathic, pathology, lab, X-ray, Purvakarma, Panchakarma, Shirodhara, Charasutra treatment services for piles, fissures, fistula etc.
According to Dr. Thakur, machines are being installed to produce medicines by processing herbs in the hospital for free distribution of medicines. "Compared to other provinces, I found that Far West is lagging behind in Ayurvedic field. I have thought to improve not only the hospital but the entire Ayurvedic sector of this province, I have started it from the hospital", said Dr. Thakur. There are seven District Ayurveda Health Centers, one Zonal Ayurveda, 33 Dispensaries and 30 Citizen Health Services Centers in Sudurpaschim Province.
