May 24, Kathmandu- Abhaya Subba, a famous rock singer and a former judge of Voice of Nepal, had to face abuse on social media when she made critical comments about cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.
On Thursday, she wrote a comment on social networking site Facebook about Sandeep, who was acquitted by Patan High Court in the case of girl rape.
In which she criticized Sandeep and left a message that those who supported her had unfriended her on Facebook.
After Abhaya made a sharp comment about Sandeep, who was under stress due to not being granted a visa by the US, his supporters have been digging against her.
On May 2nd, Abhaya made public her statement about Sandeep, who was acquitted in the Patan rape case by the high court. Even though the court acquitted him, Sandeep's fans were furious after Abhaya wrote on Facebook that he should be seen as a person involved in sexual violence.
After she posted this on Thursday, she was not only trolled on social media, but there was a shower of insults. Mentioning Abhaya on Facebook, some people have criticized her statement, while most of them are abusing her with indigestion.
Some activists and rights workers have also supported and praised Subba's post. However, after much criticism and abuse, Abhaya removed the controversial post.
After being scolded endlessly, Abhaya deleted the Facebook post with the critical comment about Sandeep on Thursday. However, in his other posts too, the order of indecent and obscene insults continues. After his post, he was insulted with questions such as "What do you Indian citizens care about Nepal?".
Sandeep, who was convicted by the district court of Kathmandu and sentenced to 8 years in prison, has been acquitted by the high court. However, expressing anger at the court's decision, Abhaya also warned Sandeep's fans not to stand by her side.
