11 Mules Trapped In Suspension Bridge Have Been Rescued Where 2 Died

Jun 09, Kathmandu- The rescue work of all the mules stuck on the suspension bridge over the Karnali river has been completed. 11 out of 13 stranded on the bridge were rescued safely. The police said that 2 of them could not be saved.

On Sunday morning, the log of the bridge snapped and the mules were trapped on one side of the bridge. After a few hours of getting stuck on the bridge, a team including the Armed Police and Nepal Police arrived and rescued them.

As the wire mesh of this bridge connecting Dailekh and Achham became weak, the mules returning with rice were trapped.

According to Dailekh Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sunil Dahal, the rescue of all the mules have been completed. 10 of those who were trapped were thrown into the river. 8 of them were rescued safely.

Police said that the remaining 2 died after falling into the river and being crushed by stones.

Similarly, Dahal said that the remaining three mules were taken out from the bridge. "After the load decreased, three of them were pulled out into the river with the help of a rope", he said.
