PM Modi Meets UK PM Sunak, French President Macron, Ukraine's Zelenskyy On Friday

Jun 14, Kathmandu- Prime Minister Narendra Modi after arriving in Italy said he will be having fruitful discussions with global leaders from various nations. He met French President Emmanuel Macron, UK PM Rishi Sunak and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines in Italy.

The primary objective of these discussions, as stated by PM Modi, is to tackle the pressing challenges faced by the world today. By collaborating with his counterparts, he aims to promote international cooperation and work towards creating a more promising future for all.

The 50th G7 Summit is being held from June 13 to 15, 2024, in Fasano, Apulia, Italy, with leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US, along with EU representation. The agenda includes the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Middle East issues, climate and energy linkages, migration, food security, and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence.

India, represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is participating as an Outreach Country to discuss global south concerns and bilateral cooperation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Key developments include the US planning new sanctions against Russia, and the G7 issuing warnings to smaller Chinese banks over ties with Russia.
