Lightning Strike In Bihar Kills 19, Injures 7 In India

Jul 07, Kathmandu- At least 19 people have died after being struck by lightning in the eastern state of India. Seven people have been injured. According to the Indian media, quoting officials active in the disaster response, they were killed by lightning while working in the fields during the rainy season and took shelter under the trees during the rain.

In the last 24 hours since last Friday, 10 districts of Bihar state have experienced heavy rains with thunder and lightning. The Indian Meteorological Department has also issued an alert (yellow alert) for heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning in northern, southeastern and south-central parts of Bihar. Every year with the onset of monsoon, hundreds of people die due to lightning strikes in India.
