37-Year-Old Record Broken

Jul 08, Kathmandu- Yaroslava Mahuchikh has broken the 37-year-old record of high jump. The Ukrainian high jumper has set a new record in the Diamond League Track and Field held in Paris on Sunday.

Mahuchikh, the world champion, managed to jump 2.10 meters. Previously, Stefka Kostadinova of Bulgaria held the record of 2.09 meters in 1987 in Rome.

The 22-year-old athlete said, "When I came to this competition, I thought that I would be able to jump from 2.07 to 2.10 meters." Finally, I managed to write the name of Ukraine in the history of athletics.

Meanwhile, Faith Kipyegon managed to set a new record in the women's 1500m race. She broke the record she set herself in Florence last year.

Kenya's Kipyegon finished the race in 3 minutes 49.04 seconds. Earlier, she completed the race in 3 minutes 49.11 seconds and held the record.
