614 Million 700 Thousand Revenue Collection By Birgunj Mahanagar

Jul 20, Kathmandu- Birganj metropolis has collected 614.7 million 17 thousand 131 revenue in the last financial year. The revenue collected by the metropolis is 44.45 million 43 thousand nine hundred and 30 more than the previous year.

Municipal Corporation Revenue Division Chief Manoj Karna said that while revising the budget last December, he had set a target of collecting revenue of 900 million rupees, but collected 614.7 million revenue during that period. "Even when the taxpayers are suffering due to the economic recession, it seems that the revenue collection should be considered as positive", he said, "When determining the revenue target for the financial year, it is based on expenditure rather than income, and it has become a problem to follow the target".

Karna, the head of the revenue department, said that the tax range could not be increased in Birganj metropolis last year. "In the last year, many domestic industries and commercial industries were closed, which has also affected revenue collection," he said.

The metropolis collected the most revenue from property tax last year. On top of that, the metropolis has collected a revenue of 206 million 84 thousand. Similarly, it has earned 117 million 744 thousand from household tax.
