Live Skin In Robot's Face To Make It Smile!

Jul 21, Kathmandu- Scientists in Japan have made the face of a robot smile by adding living skin tissue. Researchers at the University of Tokyo grew human skin tissue in the shape of a face. Like ligaments, this skin looks like it is laughing when it is stretched. Lead researcher Shoji Takeuchi said this is an important step towards making robots that look like humans.

Takeuchi said that it was possible to create a laughing robot for the first time by attaching this skin to a robot. A study on this robot was published in Cell Reports Physical Science last month. Takeuchi and his laboratory have been trying to combine biological and artificial devices for a decade, and finally it has given good results. Takeuchi says that the use of living tissue in metal and plastic has many advantages.

Scientists are trying to create a skin in the laboratory that has a circulatory system and nerves. This will provide a safe platform for cosmetic treatments and drug testing.

Based on this, scientists hope to make skin for robots that look real and work like that of humans.
